EDI@Ivey

EDI@Ivey is a newly founded portfolio in 2022 that aims to create an equitable, diverse, and inclusive environment for everyone at Ivey.

OUR WORK

We operate three main branches including Advocacy, Events and Ivey International Student Experience (IISE) and work closely with faculty, staff, and other student organizations to plan events, spearhead initiatives and advocate for the student body in many dimensions.

Advocacy

The advocacy portfolio works very closely with Ivey faculty and staff to ensure student concerns and opinions are being voiced to important stakeholders. New initiatives are spearheaded through this portfolio, and oftentimes it will happen in collaboration with student affinity groups/clubs such as Ivey Pride Club or the Black Students at Ivey Collective. It also involves partnership with other Ivey student groups like the MBAA, MScA, and EMBA programs, where the entirety of the Ivey student body can collectively advocate for change.

Some examples of initiatives the Advocacy branch has led includes;

  • Pronouns on nameplate initiatives
  • Dress code “look book” reform
  • Manadatory EDI training for all HBA1s in O-week, and incoming HBA2 students in leadership positions
  • Free menstrual products

IILSE

The Ivey International Student Experience branch helps to support international students at Ivey by creating community and helping forge new, cross-cultural connections. Working closely with Career Management and the Program Services office, this branch aims to provide mentorship opportunities, tailored career guidance, social support and community throughout the transitional period into Ivey.

Some examples of the initiatives the IISE branch has led includes;

  • International Students Orientation Day
  • IISE Mentorship Program
  • IISE Gala

Events

The Events branch coordinates and plans events that promotes equity, celebrates diversity and encourages inclusivity for all. Specifically, it looks to empower minority groups at Ivey and highlight educational opportunities for allies.

Some examples of the initiatives the Events branch has led includes:

  • Ivey x Toronto Pride Parade March
  • Section Cultural Potlucks
  • Empowerment Week @ Ivey
  • Pink Shirt Day

OUR CLUB PARTNERS

Ivey Pride Club

The Ivey Pride Club represents 2SLGBTQ+ students and allies across Ivey’s three programs. From networking events, to recruiting connections, to community engagement, we offer students and corporate partners the opportunity to connect with one another in a supportive environment!

Black Students at Ivey Collective

The Black Students at Ivey Collective (BSIC) serves as a dynamic platform for Black students, dedicated to clearing the path towards various professional careers. By cultivating a nurturing community and orchestrating an assortment of networking and educational events, BSIC endeavors to empower Black students in the Ivey community.

Cross-Program Partners

We also work closely with Student Associations from other programs. This includes the MBA Association, MSc Association, and EMBA Associations. Together, we advocate for change.
